molds for sugar need to be

  • safe for consumption (even if not directly wallowed)
  • hold at temperature of +160c
    • sugar base goes up to 146C but better safe

when making multiple impressions in a single mold, silicon+cornstarch method falls short.

watchout for

  • Viscosity - higher numbers mean running slower
  • shelf life - always look at datasheet
    • 20 month sometimes less. the smoothOn was opened and was all stiff
    • the platinum base was much more viscous a day after opening. not a good sign.

we tried water, kuskus and polymorph pellets.

but best is to calc

calculate 3d volume from simplify3D = 22.5 per bit

(22.5*4)/253 = 163
